ComETS Open Source Instructional Technology Trends Special Interest Group
The ComETS Open Source Instructional Technology Trends Special Interest Group (Open SIG, for short) is a group of ComETS members with special interest in instructional technologies which implement open standards, often with open source. Membership is open to any ComETS participant.
Open SIG Objectives:
- Assess existing and emerging instructional technology tools and establish criteria for measurement and success in the academic environment. Ensure that open source tools are considered alongside proprietary ones. Analyze and collect data on currently used instructional technology tools, including Learn@UW, and their impact to the University. Using the established metrics, report on trends and forecast the impact of emerging tools.
- Provide an overview of campus level architecture of instructional technology and services with attention to economies of scale.
- Collaborate with campus instructional technology partners and share recommendations with ComETS.
